Overview

Gosling was engaged to deliver a comprehensive underground power infrastructure solution in collaboration with Essential Energy. The scope included both civil and electrical works, from design to commissioning, ensuring seamless integration into the existing network and alignment with regulatory standards.

Key Deliverables

Directional Drilling & Conduit Installation
Supplied and installed 140 metres of 4 x 140mm HD conduit via directional drilling to minimise surface disruption.

High Voltage Cable Installation
Supplied and installed 310 metres of 11kV 240mm² three-core XLPE underground cable, laid to Essential Energy specifications.

Substation Civil and Electrical Works
Installed two 1000kVA three-way substation culverts, including full lifting, positioning, and high-voltage cable terminations into switchgear.

Earthing Systems
Installed two standard Essential Energy-compliant earthing systems, with flexibility to accommodate ground condition variations.

Network Integration and Cable Jointing
Located, exposed, and cut existing 11kV underground cables along John Oxley Drive to facilitate the installation of two straight-through joints.

Safety, Site Management, and Environmental Controls
Implemented full site safety measures including fencing, delineation, sediment and waste management, and service locating using vacuum excavation.

Traffic Control & Stakeholder Liaison
Managed traffic planning and Council liaison for power outage-related activities to ensure minimal public disruption.

Testing & Commissioning
Conducted final network testing and commissioning in partnership with Essential Energy to ensure system readiness and compliance.

Electrical Design Scope

Level 3 ASP Design
Complete preparation and certification of Level 3 ASP design drawings in alignment with Essential Energy standards.
